My Favorite Holistic Practitioners

So people are always interested to find out which holistic doctor, colonic therapist, facialist, tarot reader,  massage parlor, etc I use and would suggest.  So I thought I'd share a few of my favorite people and places to go.

Facialists:

Facialist Monica's sanctuary

I have two practictioners I have used over the past several years in New York City with amazing results.  

Monica Watters (www.sacredtouchnewyork.com) - Not only is Monica a radiant youthful looking Irish woman but she is a truly holistic healer going beyond the exterior with her clients with her sessions.  She utilizes the purest organic skincare lines and combines reiki, tarot cards, bach flower remedies, health recommendations, and reflexology alongside her facial treatments.

Julia (www.lecachetspa.com) - Senior Facialist who I first began seeing regularly a few years back.  She also utilizes a variety of holistic products and unique treatments like oxygen facial, seaweed peel (alternative to chemical peel and more effective than microdermabrasion), enzyme peels, etc.  She is passionate about her job and a perfectionist so trust that your skin will be glowing after.


Holistic Doctors:

Dr. Gabriel Francis- (www.theherbanalchemist.com)-
A naturopath/acupuncturist/chiropractor/massage therapist fused together.  I first learned about her from my facialist Monica who rents space in her facility.   One benefit to seeing Dr. Francis is the fact that she looks at the whole picture with her patients and has the ability to order out specific bloodwork and speciality tests other holistic practictioners might otherwise not have access to. Not to mention for a fraction of the cost.

Dr. David Cohen - (http://www.newyorkbodyscan.com/doctor-david-cohen.html) naturopath/psychologist.  He operates out of his home in Brooklyn NY.  He utilizes the Bodyscan Technology (famed by Dr. Marshall who is the founder of Quantum Reflex Analysis and Premier Research Labs Supplements)  If you can't seem to figure out what is ailing you or at the root of a particular health problem for you- the Bodyscan technology combined with Dr. Cohen's thorough review should be of help to you.  Just be prepared to spend a few hours at the office and don't be surprised to see a sort of scattered workspace.  His website also needs an upgrade but if you can overlook that then you will be in good hands.

Colonic Therapists:

Grace Park: (109 East 73rd street NY NY #2B gracemayday@gmail.com) One of the first colonic therapists I saw located on the Upper East Side.  Her facility makes you forget your even receiving a colonic (seems more like your getting a spa treatment).  She is trained in Total Body Reactivation, reiki, reflexology, and aromatherapy with Young Living Oils and utilizes various modalities with her clients.  She is also a certified Hatha yoga instructor.

Cynthia Shankman: (www.gravityeastvillage.com) A bubbly woman that employs massage with young living oils into her sessions.  She is passionate about aromatherapy and has a broad knowledge of Young Living Oils.   An added benefit is Gravity East also has an Infrared Sauna you can rent time to use before or after your colonic.


Body Treatments/Massage:

While I'm still on the hunt for a massage therapist that is more skilled in deep tissue massage and sports massage.  Here is a couple I still have had good success with.

Salon De Tokyo: (200 West 57th street, Suite 1308) Shiatsu/acupressure massage located in the heart of midtown and open late til 12am. One hour Massage is $70.  My colonic therapist Grace first told me about them and I've been going ever since.  My favorite massage therapist was Sato (who I believe doesnt work there anymore).  He was very intuitive with his techniques.  The salon is nothing fancy but has changing rooms and sauna and is equipped to handle couples and singles.  Also the practitioners can walk on your back during the massage.

Paulo Fernandes: (www.livebloodcoach.com) Lymphatic Massage therapist.  Although he is based in Portugal, he travels frequently to New York City and works within the Piper Center.   Skilled in the eastern european method of lymphatic massage- Paulo will help clear out any lymphatic blockage with Ph Miracle living body oils.  Be sure to ask about his special massage treatment utilizing bamboo to help treat cellulite.

Spa Ela Bonita: (161 West 54th St 2nd floor) A brazilian trained esthetician who is passionate about her work and wants to see every client happy and relaxed.  Iza, the owner utilizes some Dr. Alkatis products into her treatments as well as herbal formulas from brazil.  I've been trying out the non-invasive lypo massage treatments and also facial.  My skin has definitely improved and cellulite dimples less visible.  http://www.spaelabonita.com/#!treatments

Love Laser: (161 West 54th Street 2nd floor) This small family owned laser spot shares the office of Spa Ela Bonita.  The owner is a perfectionist at heart and uses only the top of the line laser machines thats guaranteed to get rid of any of your unwanted hair at a fraction of the price that you'd pay to get it done elsewhere in the city with less then impressive results.  Joyce, the owner was able to handle the unfinished hair removal from previous laser spots I went to on my underarms and bikini line and now I'm silky smooth.  http://www.lovelaserny.com

Yoga Instruction:

Matthew Mileo: (www.matthewmileo.com) If you have ever wanted to get into yoga but not motivated to go to group classes and/or don't find them challenging enough then look no further.  A former Chanel makeup artist turned Yogi master, Matthew has caught a large following very quickly with his detailed step by step instruction and attention to detail with his yoga clients.  You will be pleasantly surprised with his challenging sequence of postures.

Holistic Dentist:

 Dr. Reid L. Winick, D.D.S.  (http://www.dentistryforhealthny.com)  After doing quite a bit of research on holistic dentistry and realizing my prior nyc holistic dentist was still in the stone ages I set out to find a new one.  And I couldn't be more happy.  Dr. Winick and his team go beyond just the health of teeth with their clients.  He is a firm believer in monitoring your ph to make sure your blood is alkaline and uses Ascended Health's Oralive (popularized by David Wolfe) with his patients as toothpaste and believes in using a hydrofloss for proper oral health.  His facility is gorgeous and feng shui friendly with a breathtaking view from the dentist's chair.

Dr. Harold Efron DDS- (www.drefron.com) My new holistic dentist of choice.  He is must simplier and not looking to try to take advantage of his clients by insisting on unnecessary fillings or devices.  He too impliments a holistic mindset to his dentistry.  If you want a straight shooter without all the extra bells and whistles this is your guy.  Last year, I began experiencing ongoing tooth pain when I had cold liquids and Dr. Winick's office couldn't seem to get to the root of solving my tooth grinding despite this bodywork supposedly they prescribed to help me.  So I headed over for a second opinion at Dr. Efron's office who prescribed me a custom mouth guard.  Now the pain is virtually gone!


Live Blood Cell Analysis:

Paulo Fernandes: (www.livebloodcoach.com) Not only is Paulo skilled in lymphatic massage but he is a trained Microscopist through Dr. Young and The PH Miracle Center.   I'd seen another practictioner in NYC a few years before and was thoroughly disapppointed.  But after getting rave reviews from acquiantances about Paulo I decided to give him a go and I was not disappointed.   He is extremely thorough with his reading and offers continued support via email or facebook for his patients.   His blood analysis discovered that some prior health issues of mine were still not behind me and therefore I was able to see where I needed to focus my energy on healthwise in adjusting.   Totally worth the investment!

Tarot Card Reader:

Dalia Carella- Tarot and Intuitive.  (www.tarot.daliacarella.com) A professional dancer by trade that also is extremely intuitive and spot on with her readings.  She does phone and private readings.




Intuitives:

Peter Roth:  A medical Intuitive recommended to me by a friend.  Peter's knowledge and intuitive abilities are unmatched and even caught the attention of Health food store owner and guru, Gary Null.  Peter has both a radio show and tele-classes to help you further understand your mind at a deep level.   He is also a human design analyst which similar to astrology, can help you understand your behaviors and life patterns based upon the time your born.   For more information check out http://heartriver.org/welcome-heart-river
